Vertex Maps is built on data from public agencies, open-data projects and map providers. This page lists every source, what we use it for and its licence. Where a licence asks for credit, the credit also appears next to the data in the app.

Measured snow depth

The app shows the nearest station's latest reading. The station's provider is named under the reading.

Avalanche bulletins

Bulletins come from the official avalanche warning services through the EAWS network and avalanche.org in the United States. Each bulletin in the app names its issuing service and links to the full original. Texts may be shortened. Warning region outlines: EAWS regions (CC0). Norwegian bulletins: Varsler fra Snøskredvarslingen i Norge og www.varsom.no.

Satellite images

Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2026. Images are Sentinel-2 L2A scenes from the AWS Open Data archive, found through Element 84's Earth Search. Sentinel data legal notice.

The route libraries are a database derived from OpenStreetMap and Camptocamp. They are available under the ODbL and CC BY-SA in the same form the app uses: Alps (index, licence), Nordic (index, licence), Caucasus (index, licence). Each route names its source and author and links to the original.
